Latest travel restrictions

Passengers are required to wear a face covering (unless exempt) while inside the terminal and maintain a safe social distance wherever possible. All other health protection measures will remain in place.

Before you travel to destination countries it is important you check the UK Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office (FCDO) for country-by-country travel and entry requirements. Departing passengers only require proof of a negative COVID-19 test result, if it is a requirement on entry in the destination.

Arriving in England

From 4am, Tuesday 7 December all people aged 12 years and over must take a PCR or LFD COVID-19 test before they travel to England from abroad.

You must take the test in the 2 days before you depart. This will apply whether you qualify as fully vaccinated or not.

Fully vaccinated

If you qualify as fully vaccinated, you have to:

  • Take a pre-departure Covid 19 PCR or lateral flow/antigen test in the 2 days before you travel to the UK
  • Carry your paperwork proving your vaccination status
  • Before arriving into the UK you need to Book a Day 2 Covid 19 PCR test from a private test provider (free NHS tests cannot be used)
  • Complete your UK passenger locator form any time in the 48 hours before you arrive in England including the reference for your pre-booked PCR test. 
  • You must self-isolate at home or the place you are staying until you receive a negative test result

Not fully vaccinated

If you are unvaccinated and over 18 you must self-isolate home for 10 days after your arrival into the UK.

Before you travel to England you have to:

  • Take a pre-departure Covid 19 PCR or lateral flow/antigen test in the 2 days before you travel to the UK
  • Prior to travelling, book and take a PCR test on or before day 2 and on or after day 8 after your return to the UK.
  • Fill a UK passenger locater form within the 48 hours before you arrive in England.
  • You must quarantine at home or in the place you are staying for 10 full days
  • If your day 8 PCR test result is negative, you can stop self-isolating

Unvaccinated passengers will have the option to end quarantine early if you pay for a private COVID-19 test through the Test to Release scheme.

Our operation

The safety and well-being of our passengers and staff is our number one priority. We continue to implement all Government guidance and follow industry best practice.

LLA has been awarded the Airport Health Accreditation by Airports Council International after a careful assessment of new measures and procedures introduced. Read more here. Our processes have also been audited by the Civil Aviation Authority and Public Health England.

The measures currently in place at the airport include:

  • Enhanced cleaning and regular surface testing
  • Installation of hand sanitiser units
  • Installation of floor markings and signage, so passengers can maintain a safe distance wherever possible
  • Installation of protective screens where appropriate at customer service points such as check-in
  • Displaying the latest public health information throughout the airport including regular announcements
  • Passengers are required to wear a face covering (unless exempt), and should wash their hands regularly and keep a distance wherever possible


Please do not travel if feeling unwell and always follow the latest Government guidance regarding safer air travel.

Getting to and from LLA

National Express and all other bus operators are running a reduced service. Please visit the operator website using the links below for an up-to-date schedule.

Parking

All car parks are open.

If you are returning to the Long Stay Car Park to collect your vehicle, please make your way to Bus Bay B where further instructions will be provided. There is no bus service to and from the Mid Stay Car Park until further notice. It's just an 8 - 10 minute walk to the terminal.

We politely request that you avoid entering the terminal to greet or wave off passengers, and only those flying enter the terminal.

Car Hire Centre

Europcar, Avis and Enterprise have now resumed operations, but Hertz no longer operates from the airport.

There are currently no currency exchange services available at the airport until further notice. All stores accept contactless payments. Please accept our apologies for any inconvenience caused.

Our Fast Track service is available between 04:15 - 08:45.

Entry is valid for 2 hours prior to your flight departure time. If you need to make changes to your booking, you can do so using Manage My Booking.

Please note, Lounge opening times are subject to change without notice.

Vending machines are also available before and after security.

The following services provided by Luggage-Point are available to use between 05:00-13:00 daily.

  • Lost property enquiries/collections
  • Left luggage
  • Bag wrap
  • Weighing scales
  • Travel retail (limited range)

A variety of COVID-19 tests are now available at LLA to meet the differing needs of governments worldwide and to enable those arriving in the UK to participate in the UK Government's 'Test to Release' scheme.
